With 15 years of experience in fundraising, nonprofit work, and community outreach experience, Jennifer brings young, vibrant energy to Lexington’s Urban County Council and has demonstrated herself as a responsive and compassionate Councilmember.
Jennifer is running for her 3rd term as the 11th District Councilmember for Lexington Fayette Urban County Government. Jennifer is passionate about serving Lexington and helping make it a better place to live for everyone.
During her time on Council, she has served on the City Council’s standing committees of Planning and Public Safety and General Government. Some of the items she cares about and have put in committee include the paramedicine program, a review of code enforcement, police issues, how the jail works with ICE, the city’s policy on opening dead ends, gun violence, and language access.
She has worked fervently during Covid to make sure that testing and vaccinations are available to those in need…
Jennifer serves on the Board of Health and helped bring Covid testing sites to Cardinal Valley. She worked fervently during Covid to make sure that testing and vaccinations were available to those in need and worked hard getting Covid information out in Spanish and to assure there were food drives in the 11th.
She rallied volunteers who made masks for senior living facilities in the district. She coordinated with different groups including working with the Mayor’s and Governor’s Office. She won several awards for her work in 2020.
During her time on Council, Jennifer made sure that the first phase of the Versailles Rd Corridor Improvement Project was brought to fruition and secured money to complete that phase. She also was able to get funding in the FY2023 budget towards a design to help towards finishing the rest of the project.
This past year she held regular monthly Council Updates on RadioLex. In addition, she has worked with the Greater Gardenside Association over the past four years to help revitalize the Gardenside area and bring a festival, farmer’s market, and other activities to the Alexandria Dr. Corridor.
During Covid she has been part of a group that has worked on outreach to the Latinx population about Covid-related issues.
She has worked a lot with the Latinx, Hispanic, and international communities during her time as the 11th District Councilmember as the district has a large Spanish-speaking and international populations.
Some of the things Councilmember Reynolds helped approve and advocate for in the American Rescue Plan Act and this year’s budget include an additional $10,000 for affordable housing, $1,000,000 for the new Village Branch Library, $10,000,00 for the Parks and Rec Masterplan, money for High Street improvements, $750,000 for the Distillery District, part of the Versailles Rd. design, and more.
